This is a fixed term position until 31 August 2026.
Roundswell Community School are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Nursery team. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment.
About the role
The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated Early Years team to support high-quality provision for our youngest learners. You will help to create a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Supporting pupils’ welfare and personal care, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
• Implementing literacy and numeracy interventions.
• Assisting with planning cycles and preparing learning resources.
• Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil independence.
• Assisting with supervision during break/lunchtimes and accompany pupils on trips when required.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who can bring energy, compassion and commitment to the role.
Essential qualities include:
• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 Teaching Assistants or equivalent.
• Experience working with, or caring for, children of a relevant age.
• Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning.
• Have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to relate well to both children and adults.
Desirable (but not essential) qualities include:
• Experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
• Knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) practices and the national curriculum.
• Additional training in learning strategies such as literacy or numeracy.
• NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent.
