We are looking for an experienced social worker to join our Exeter South team. Ours is a very settled and supportive team of social workers, occupational therapists, and social care assessors. We cover both urban and rural areas.
Our team works with adults of all ages. Presenting needs can relate to a Learning Disability, Acquired Brain Injury, autism, dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Korsakoff syndrome, Huntington's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, and other physical health complications. We endeavour to work alongside our Health colleagues and non-statutory sector in promoting the wellbeing of individuals living in our local community.
Our focus should always be on maintaining independence and wellbeing. Workers complete strengths-based assessments and care planning under the Care Act 2014. The successful applicant will require good knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act 1998. Safeguarding Adults in a central focus of our work. An Experienced Social Worker is expected to carry out Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries.
There is a lot of variety in our work which means every day is interesting. Complexity of work will match each worker's experience. The breadth of our work means there are plenty of chances to expand one's experience as a social worker.
The majority of our assessments are face-to-face. We have a hybrid working culture. Staff are expected to be on-site for some of the week. Workers can access management support in person or on-line. We promote shared learning on the team.
Social Worker Career Pathway
We have implemented the first phase of a new Social Worker Career Pathway within our Adults Services, with our vacancies available at the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) levels. Our Social Worker and Experienced Social Worker roles align with the national Professional Capability Framework (PCF) for Social Workers, which provides a robust structure for all local authorities to use as a way of standardising professional capabilities and provides a clear career pathway.
This is a fantastic opportunity to provide you with an achievable, clear pathway for your career; to enable you as a practitioner to reflect and identify your own practice and development on the PCF pathway.
If successful in being shortlisted for interview, your experience, skills and knowledge, will be assessed against the PCF domains and if found appointable, this will determine your appointment to either the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker level (Grade G).
With on-going learning and support from your line manager, those appointed as a Social Worker will be able to evidence incremental learning and submit an application in due course for progression to the Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) via a portfolio of supporting evidence against the PCF framework.
