Help Lead Our Asset Programme and Policy Team. Do it for Devon.
We are recruiting two Senior Highway Asset Officers to join our Asset Programme and Policy Team and support the ongoing development of asset management principles, championing and promoting their use across the service.
We are looking for applicants with a background in highway asset management who possess strong communication and organisational skills, along with a keen and inquisitive nature.
What you'll be doing
As part of the leadership team, successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate existing leadership capabilities or show the potential to develop these skills within an evolving asset management environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Provide strategic direction and support to locally based Asset Officers, including direct line management responsibilities.
- Collaboration: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote and demonstrate asset management strategies and principles.
- Strategic Development: Use asset data to identify and promote highway maintenance forward programmes at both local and countywide levels, and review past performance to inform the development of evolving strategies.
- Budget Management: Take responsibility for the financial management and reporting of centrally managed maintenance programmes.
- Systems Development and Governance: Promote, develop and maintain asset data systems, ensuring data quality supports evidence-based decision-making.
- Policy Development: Review and develop asset management policies and procedures.
You'll be part of a wider asset management team responsible for the ongoing management and maintenance of Devon's highway assets. Based in Exeter, each successful candidate will work within a small, supportive team covering one half of the county, while also contributing to countywide programmes.
You will work closely with colleagues from across the County Council, and the ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships will be essential.
