We have an exciting new opportunity for a Public Health Practitioner to join the Public Health team. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to develop their career in public health, and apply their knowledge, skills, experience, and enthusiasm to reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for Devon’s residents.
Working on a variety of workstreams and tasks, you will work with both public health professionals and partners to provide support and advice, contributing to the development and implementation of specialist public health programmes. This post will enable you to gain experience across all domains of Public Health (health improvement, health protection, and healthcare commissioning), and provide a foundation for continued professional development within public health.
The Role
You will:
- Contribute to and support the development and implementation of local public health programmes
- Develop and maintain public health information
- Support and facilitate multi-agency public health partnership working
- Contribute to Health Needs Assessments and support the planning and commissioning of services
- Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of public health programmes
- Participate in and support delivery of training
- Undertake literature reviews and make recommendations in order to support development of work programmes
About you
We are looking for someone who is dynamic, creative, compassionate, and eager to learn and develop their public health knowledge and skills.
You will bring:
- Experience working in public health, health improvement, or community development initiatives/projects
- Knowledge and understanding of the public health agenda and wider determinants of health
- Experience of working in partnership
- Experience evaluating public health or related programmes
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to a range of different audiences using different methods
- Confident and creative presentation skills
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in public health or relevant subject is essential.
