Devon County Council’s Traffic Management Group is seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated applicants for Network Coordination Technician posts (3 x full time).
You will work within a team managing applications from works promoters to perform street works on Devon's highways. You will monitor network activity compliance and deal with the coordination, assessment and approval or rejection of permit applications.
Excellent communication and IT skills are necessary as the function is mainly computer based involving frequent liaison with utility company representatives and their contractors to process permit applications to ensure the network asset is protected.
Some familiarity with legislation related to highways and traffic management will be beneficial, particularly the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 but not essential. You will process permit applications of a low impact nature checking the information provided and resolving any issues before granting or rejecting.
A flexible approach is required working within a larger team with Coordination Officers who manage complex high impact permits and road closure applications.
You will need to develop specialist knowledge in related areas and will be allocated administrative tasks as required within the team including interrogation of systems to identify offences or assist with performance or financial monitoring tasks.
You may be required to gather relevant information to assist in responding to customer complaints or to assist managers in doing so and occasionally, you may be expected to travel to meetings.
