We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Environmental Health and Community Safety Support team at Torridge District Council. The Support team works across the wider Environmental Health and Community Safety service, with this post primarily providing support to our Licensing Team, helping us deliver a wide range of services to businesses, licence holders and residents across the district.
You don't need to be a licensing expert. We are looking for someone with good administrative and IT skills, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to communicate with customers and colleagues. You will need to be well organised, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable learning new processes and systems.
The role is varied and will include responding to customer enquiries, processing licence applications, maintaining accurate electronic records, issuing consultations, administering fees and providing general support to the Licensing Team
Licensing covers a surprisingly wide range of activities. You could be helping with taxi driver and vehicle licences, premises and personal licences, temporary event notices, gambling, pavement licences and licences for animal-related businesses.
A significant part of the role involves supporting our taxi licensing service, where accuracy and attention to detail are particularly important when receiving applications and checking the documentation required before they can be assessed by a Licensing Officer.
You will be joining a small, busy, friendly and supportive team and will work alongside experienced officers who will help you develop your knowledge of licensing and the wider Environmental Health and Community Safety service.
