Steiner Academy Exeter is an all-through academy which opened in September 2013. We currently have 440 pupils and will reach full capacity of 620+ pupils in 2021.

After being placed in Special Measures in October 2018, the acting Principal and Academy Management Committee have developed an exciting plan for improving the school, with access to a wide range of support and expertise from local and national agencies. The school is now entering a phase of redevelopment and transformation to bring the best of Steiner Waldorf education into a mainstream, state of the art provision in the heart of Exeter.

We are now looking to recruit a Class teacher to join our Middle School and work within the teaching team to help the new executive drive the school’s improvement, ensuring pupils receive the full benefits of an excellent Steiner Waldorf education.

The postholder will be responsible for teaching a group of children from Class 6(Year 7), bringing the best of mainstream and Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy together to provide an excellent education. Ideally, the postholder will stay with the class until the end of class 7(Year 8).

A commitment to the contemporary and professional articulation of Steiner Waldorf pedagogy in a positive engagement with broader educational practice is essential in this role.

The successful candidate will be inspirational, driven and demonstrate a passion for continual improvement. You will be committed to excellence in teaching, learning and training, and have successful experience of delivering a balanced, creative curriculum. Understanding of the Steiner Waldorf curriculum would be an advantage.

Steiner Academy Exeter is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. We are committed to promoting equality of opportunity and access for all, irrespective of age, background, race, gender, religion, ability, disability or sexuality. We welcome applications for employment from the whole community.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
