The Business Support and Innovation team is a dynamic team supporting businesses and social enterprise across Devon and the Heart of the South West. We run various grant and business support programmes including the Growth Hub.  This is a fast-moving team where flexibility, professionalism and practicality are key.

This post will sit within the Heart of the South West Growth Hub team, which is funded by Government to provide access to local and national business support services.

The Project Assistant: Growth Hub Business Support Adviser is an exciting position in which you will undertake a variety of tasks to provide a frontline business advisory service and support the Programme Manager and wider team in delivering a comprehensive business support service.

The role is to be the point of contact and provide a comprehensive and impartial diagnostic, signposting and referral service for business enquiries to the Heart of the South West (HotSW) Growth Hub. You may pro-actively contact businesses to assess their business support needs and growth potential, following-up with businesses and pro-actively account manage growth potential businesses. The broad ranging role requires producing and maintaining business client records, contributing to the development of a knowledge bank of business support options and information, supporting marketing activity, and attendance at outreach events and workshops as required to support business engagement and face-to-face diagnostic activity.

This post will be based in Chelston, Somerset, however, the post holder will be expected to work from Partner offices across, North Devon, Somerset, Mid Devon and East Devon, attending events and offering drop in advice sessions. There will also be a need to come to County Hall, Exeter on occasion.

We are looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:
- Understanding of SME business lifecycles and stages of development
- Excellent communications skills, the ability to actively listen, influence and negotiate and communication with people at all levels.
- Experience of handling and processing enquires (via telephone, email, online and face to face)
- Excellent IT skills with experience of using CRM’s and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel across the Heart of the South West.
