Office of the Police Commissioner, Devon & Cornwall

Better services for victims of crime. Greater collaboration with partners. More effective criminal justice interventions. With your dedication and expertise, we can make all three a reality.

As Criminal Justice, Partnership & Commissioning Manager for the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, you’ll have the chance to do something great for the peninsula and its people. You’ll be responsible for three vital areas: managing, developing and enhancing our criminal justice capability; leading and influencing partnerships; and commissioning, contract managing and leading victim services (including those supporting victims of sexual and domestic abuse). It’s a unique, three-pronged approach where you can make an impact on policing, public safety and services to achieve safe, resilient, connected communities.

Day to day, you’ll be developing, implementing and evaluating the OPCC Commissioning Strategy and managing a small team spanning a range of disciplines. You’ll also be working collaboratively with partners including Devon and Cornwall Police, local authorities, probation services and the community and voluntary sector. You’ll therefore need a specialist skillset in order to excel. This should include an understanding of Criminal Justice or Policing, plus a strong grasp of procurement, commissioning and budgets. You should also know how to design and introduce change, and how to guide and support dedicated teams. And crucially, you’ll be comfortable managing partnerships at a strategic level. An influencer, problem solver and negotiator, you’ll be highly motivated with a degree (or equivalent).

The ability to travel widely across Devon and Cornwall is essential, as is the integrity to work in a secure and confidential environment. The OPCC is based in Exeter, but the post holder may work from alternative locations across the Force area as their main base.

In return, you’ll get to shape and influence your role while working with a large range of diverse stakeholders.
