The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest international animal welfare charities; currently supporting projects in over 35 countries worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.
We are seeking to recruit an Education Officer to connect children, young people and adults with the needs and nature of donkeys through high quality learning experiences that have Learning Objectives as an outcome. These connections will be presented in dynamic and compelling ways that will raise the public’s perceptions regarding the status of donkeys and their positive impact on people’s lives around the globe, ensuring The Donkey Sanctuary is recognised as a premium provider of animal based education.
You will facilitate the smooth running (from booking through to delivery) of onsite and offsite educational visits in line with visitor expectations and our strategic mission, maintaining the quality of service across all aspects of the education programmes, and working with the National School Education Manager, you will develop a strong and appropriate programme, with materials to support the educational outcomes. Possessing experience of leading learning experiences and group work, you will support the Visitor Engagement department with tours and presentations for families and adults, involvement determined by core workload. Experience of the UK education system and curriculum, and of producing effective learning materials for a variety of audiences are essential, as are the ability to make good decisions under pressure and deliver on deadlines, excellent customer service, and competent IT skills.
If you feel you have the skills and experience to fulfil this varied and rewarding role, and would like to be part of the evolutional program of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. Based in Sidmouth, Devon - “an area of outstanding natural beauty” - this contract is starting as soon as possible.
