The Medical Tuition Service are seeking to recruit an outstanding, flexible, and committed, qualified Teacher of Art, to join our dedicated team. The service is dedicated to a Beyond Learning journey for our whole school community, helping to meet their specific medical and subsequent academic needs.
Visual Arts are an important part of our Curriculum and Therapeutic Offer in that it makes learning and creativity accessible to young people who have missed out on expressive opportunities historically due to ill health. This is an exciting time to be joining our service as we move towards accreditation as an educational establishment for young people with medical needs in Torbay, who are currently unable to attend their on roll school.
The post holder will be required to facilitate and coordinate our KS3 and KS4 Visual Arts curriculum as well as deliver learning, interventions and nurture via our outreach offer, for those young people who are unable to attend their on roll school due to ill health. This will involve a varied timetable comprising lessons taught on site at MTS Parkfield in individual or small groups, as well as one to one in the home, Torbay Hospital or in a space provided by the on-roll school. The role will require the teaching of a range of visual arts subjects as well as the delivery of short literacy and numeracy interventions across the setting and promoting flexibility and creativity to ensure that young people with health needs can engage and excel.
The successful applicant will be a willing team player, who can work independently and forge positive relationships with young people, families, colleagues and external partners. They will have a secure knowledge of Art and Design, Photography, 3D Design as well as have a sound knowledge of literacy, numeracy and nurture across the curriculum.
