Belong is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual with drive, passion, enthusiasm and ambition to join our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Department. We are looking for a Teacher of Science who is an excellent classroom practitioner, deeply committed to improving student outcomes and passionate about teaching and learning.
Belong School Devon is an independent special school for students aged 11 to 17 from across Devon. Our approach to learning at Belong School Devon is built around our vision of enabling all our students to become thriving, successful adults.
We work with young people and their families to develop learning strategies to overcome individual challenges and meet Education Health and Care Plan goals with our unshakable belief that with the right support, every pupil can learn, grow and thrive.
We are seeking a science teacher to start as soon as possible once all recruitment checks are fully complete. This position can be either full time or part time.
The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher who is able to teach up to and including GCSE. Applications are welcomed from both ECTs and experienced teachers.
We require a degree of flexibility to adapt to the needs of our students, the learning environment, and a commitment to meeting outcomes set on EHCPs and delivering targets set in IEPs. Experience of working in an SEMH setting/special school would be desirable but is not essential.
All students study Science at Key Stage 3, and it is an option for our Key Stage 4 students, for whom we offer GCSE separate sciences or the dual award. We place a strong emphasis upon relational practice and practical work to support learning.
Experience:
• Teaching: 1 year (preferred)
• Experience of teaching GCSE or above (preferred)
• Ability to teach at GCSE level (required)
