We are looking for 2 Learning Support Assistants on a temporary basis, to cover Maternity Leave for approximately 9 months.
Barley Lane School is a day special school. Our school provides education for up to 80 pupils aged 7-16 who benefit from small group and individualised learning.
Although we are a small school that teaches to the national curriculum, we supplement this with nurture principles and relational practice to build trust, emotional development and resilience. We embrace a change us to change them model, understanding a culture of consistent adult behaviour is an essential piece of practice when supporting children and young people with complex needs.
We are located in the St Thomas area of Exeter and are looking for Learning Support Assistants to join our increasing relational family to grow and thrive together.
The successful candidate(s) will be passionate about working with children and young people and a reflective practitioner. Wanting and willing to learn is essential with a constant drive to improve their own practice. Most importantly, you share our values of being Ready, Respectful and Safe in a community that is honest, has humility and works hard for the young people, their families and each other.

You may work across the school, or specialise within an identified class or subject area where you will be supporting and learning from others. You should have a good standard of general education with good numeracy and literacy skills. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults. The ability to specialise in literacy and or numeracy would be welcome, but not necessary.
Perhaps you want to become a teacher, an educational psychologist, or another education-based career and are looking for that special school to gain some experience in an education setting.
