Headteacher - Charleton C of E Academy (Learning Academy Partnership)
- Multiple Locations
- Full Time
- L1 – L5

Required for January 2024 or April 2024 start.
Come and join our Trust as Headteacher of Charleton C of E Academy, a wonderful rural school just outside Kingsbridge nestled on the estuary and easy commute from places such Newton Abbot, Plymouth and Torbay. We are seeking that person who believes in our school Trust mission, ‘Flourishing Futures’, and commits to upholding the Christian distinctiveness of the school.
Our School Trust is underpinned by our four core beliefs; we are stronger together, a sense of belonging; removing barriers and realising the possible. This means that by working collectively, we can achieve our absolute best to ensure that children, especially the most vulnerable, can flourish. If this excites you, we could be the organisation for you.
This the perfect post for someone seeking their first headship or someone who has experience of leading in small rural schools. You do not need experience of leading a church school, but you must be committed to upholding the Christian character of the school.
The headteacher will be passionate about small school education and this post comes with a part-time class teaching commitment. Charleton has a two-class structure which includes a Nursery.
Charleton is a wonderful school for our pupils, and it is supported by a fantastic team and parents. Charleton is strengthened by being part of a local hub with Thurlestone C of E Academy and West Alvington C of E Academy as well as the wider family of schools in our school Trust family.
Charleton thrives because of the partnership working with the hub schools and as a Headteacher you will have the opportunity to work closely with the other Headteacher in the hub to develop the curriculum and teaching and learning for all children.
This is a wonderful opportunity to embrace all that is special to Charleton but also bring your own expertise and vision to the school. Our School Trust is committed to improving educational outcomes for the most disadvantaged children, ensuring that every child experiences an excellent curriculum that is distinctive to their community.
As well as providing the very best education for the children of Charleton, you will have the privilege to be part of a wider team of Headteachers who develop practice, share expertise, and innovate for the benefit of all children and colleagues within the Trust. We are an organisation where professional development and growth is supported and celebrated; we want you to feel professionally nourished and whose wellbeing is supported through our offer to you.
We further support our Headteachers to focus on the quality of the education offer by clearing the path. We have a fully comprehensive Business Support Offer which uses specialists to deal with areas such as catering, estates, finance, governance, HR etc. We can do this because we are a Trust.
We want to support you in deciding if we are a School Trust that you would like to join. We strongly recommend that you arrange a visit to the school and a virtual call with our Trust Lead so that you can better understand if we are an organisation which excites you and can support you to flourish. Please contact our People Team on people@lapsw.org to arrange an appointment.
The Learning Academy Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS disclosures are required for this post along with the other necessary checks. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.
