Are you looking to start your career in conservation?
Would you like to develop your field survey and technical skills in a friendly and supportive team with experienced professionals?
We are looking for a Project Assistant to join our team, based at Aldens Court, Exeter. You will help DBRC deliver initiatives that enrich our knowledge of Devon’s landscape, and the state of its species and habitats, furthering our ability to inform decision making in the county. This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to learn new skills and work alongside experienced colleagues to aid their career in the sector.
DBRC is one of the largest Local Environmental Records Centres in the UK and has a large portfolio of projects year on year, which includes long term monitoring of County Wildlife sites and other habitat/site related surveys, as well as a range of species-specific initiatives. We work in partnership with many conservation NGO’s, statutory bodies and large landowners, delivering high quality survey and desk-based outputs to support their work. We also work with many community and specialist groups and volunteers, so you will need to be a good communicator and able to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will expand our current team’s capacity and will use their developing field survey and technical skills to support colleagues across our busy portfolio. You will need to be flexible and able to adapt to varying priorities and, in return, will receive support and training which will enhance your skills and allow you to gain experience in many elements of our work.
In return for your hard work and dedication, you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to 28 days after 5 years’ service);
• Agile working arrangements including home working;
• Flexitime system;
• Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply);
• Death in Service cover;
• Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP);
• Cycle to work scheme;
• Training and development opportunities.
Although the post is contractually based at Aldens Court, there is significant scope for home working.
We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and abilities who meet the essential criteria for this role. We are an inclusive organisation that is seeking to involve more diverse audiences in our work.
DWT is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in employment.
