You’ll have the opportunity to complete BSL qualifications and your Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, if needed.

About the role
Responsible for our beautiful four bedroom home in Exmouth which specialises in supporting Deaf young people, you will be a proven leader and will support our team of Residential Support Workers in providing nurturing care centred on a Thrive approach. This home is unique in supporting children and young people who are Deaf but also with additional complex needs. Although you may not have worked with Deaf young people before you will be committed to learning about deafness, and British Sign Language, and have extensive knowledge of the needs of children and young people in care.
The role will be challenging and fast paced but very rewarding and with a positive, solution focused approach as well as creativity and a willingness to be hands on you will transform the lives of the children and young people within the home.
Your strong leadership and management skills will enable you to manage a busy workload whilst ensuring that the outcomes for children and young people are central to everything you do. You will share our absolute commitment to safeguarding children and young people and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of child protection, risk management, and working with external services and professionals. You’ll have a wealth of professionals from our wider Academy to support you in finance processes, staff development and your own leadership development, as well as linking with education staff in building a comprehensive picture about the children within the home and their needs and development.
We are looking for an innovative individual who can take the home to the next level in providing outstanding care and developing an outstanding team. You will have a keen eye for detail as well as excellent skills in quality assurance and improvement. A very good understanding of the Children’s Home Quality Standards and Regulations is essential to the role, as well as exceptional reporting and presentation skills.
