Devon County Council’s Traffic Management Group is seeking keen, self-motivated and dynamic applicants for Network Coordination Officer posts (2 full time and 1 part time) to work within a team managing permit applications and monitoring compliance with permitted network activity and together with the overall coordination of works occurring on Devon’s highways.

Excellent communication and negotiating skills are necessary as you are in regular liaison with representatives from utility companies, their contractors, agents or promoters to discuss permits and proposed activity determining the timing of works relative to network demand, ensuring the network asset is protected.

You will be familiar with legislation related to highways and traffic management, particularly the Traffic Management Act 2004 and New Roads & Street Works Act 1991, applying professional judgement and discretion to detailed information, recording and assessing it, identifying conflicts or offences and resolving.

A flexible approach is required across various tasks within the team. You will be required to assimilate specialist knowledge in many areas and will be allocated specific works projects as needed. At times you will be required to prepare reports and gather relevant information to support any action being taken by the authority or in response to customer complaints.
