Responsible to: Jackie Taylor, Principal

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Higher Level Teaching Assistant with experience of working with challenging/SEN pupils to start 4 January 2021. Our ideal candidate will have excellent teamwork and communication skills, along with the ability and enthusiasm to make a difference with students who have a range of needs. We look forward to hearing from you.

Glendinning Academy plans to open to students in January 2021; the Academy is temporarily based in Ashburton.

Glendinning Academy is a school for children aged from 7 to 19 (key stage 2 to key stage 5) with social interaction and communication needs, including those on the Autism Spectrum. Initially, the school opened with up to 54 places for children, this will grow to 120 students over the first 3 years; this will include 12 sixth form places. Our students will all have Education, Health and Care Plans with a primary need of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Our pupils will benefit from a unique curriculum. Project based learning at key stage 2 and 3 with themes set in the context of nature and the outdoors provides access to the national curriculum and the opportunity to develop social communication and interaction skills. Teachers will work collaboratively with our team in order to plan schemes of work that provide all pupils access to the national curriculum through experiential and active learning. At key stage 4 and 5, pupils will have the opportunity to study qualifications suitable to their level and need and linked with our whole school outdoor based theme including GCSEs and A levels.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jackie Taylor, Principal, by emailing jtaylor@waveedu.org.

Wave MAT is dedicated to the safeguarding of children and Safer Recruitment Procedures will be followed. The position requires a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
