The Trustees of Riviera Education Trust and Governors of Oldway Primary School thank you for your interest in the post of Level 2 Teaching Assistant at our Outstanding school. The successful candidate to this temporary position for two terms, will be expected to take up post as soon as possible, and will be within the school’s nursery in the first instance. The temporary contract will cease at the end of the academic year, August 2019, but there is a possibility of a permanent position after this period, dependent on funding and pupil need.

Requirements of the post
The Trustees and Governors seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teaching assistant to join the school within the nursery. You will support learning and teaching within the nursery that meets the learning needs and interests of our nursery pupils. Learning will focus on key skills in early English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. A key aspect of the role will be ‘in-the-moment planning’, extending children’s language and thinking when engaging alongside them in their play. In addition, you will also provide additional small-group and 1:1 intervention to support children’s learning and progress, developing pupils’ independence, curiosity and resilience, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to the nursery teacher. You will also share responsibility for creating an exciting and stimulating learning environment, both inside and outside the nursery classroom.

Along with a large team of experienced support staff, you will be well-supported by the nursery teacher and staff within the foundation stage team. The Deputy Head is the school’s SENDCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead and there is also a Pastoral Manager who leads the pastoral team.

You will benefit from a supportive Induction Programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as Continuing Professional Development and opportunities to engage in action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching School Alliance.

Further details of the post are included in the job description and person specification.

To discuss the role in more detail and to visit the school, please contact Sam Meyer, Deputy Head, by emailing smeyer@rivieraet.co.uk. Visits have been arranged for 9am on 17 January 2019, 2pm on 18 January 2019 and 9am on 25 January 2019.
