We are looking for a Post 16 student to come and join us for one week in the Public Health Intelligence Team.

This is a small, friendly and enthusiastic team currently supporting a range of areas within the County Council and wider organisations such as the NHS and Police. The Public Health Intelligence team gathers, performs analysis and interprets a plethora of data from health care to social determinants of health (e.g. Housing) to understand the impact of different factors on health and wellbeing. 

This placement will involve working closely with the Public Health Intelligence Team. A short project will be assigned to ensure you get the most out of the placement with Public Health Intelligence. You will learn and develop skills in the following:

-       What is Public Health?

-       Introduction to basic public health statistical techniques

-       Main data sources and tools

-       Microsoft Excel

-       Microsoft Teams

-       Microsoft Forms (Survey)

-       Report writing

-       Skype for Business


The person we are looking for should have or be looking to develop:

-       Good all-round communication skills

-       Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 tools

-       Ability to be flexible and adaptable

-       An eye for detail

-       Creativity

-       An ability to work as part of a team

-       The ability to show initiative

-       Ability to problem solve

-       Ability to manage your time and work to deadlines

Please give some thought as to how you will travel to County Hall each day. Unfortunately, Devon County Council cannot reimburse any travel expenses to and from this placement.
