We are looking for a Post 16 student to come and join us for one week in the Highway Services team.

We are quite a large team of 24 staff spread over two offices, one in Barnstaple and one in Exeter.  We work as one team supporting various other teams within Highways e.g. Highway Neighbourhood Teams, Engineering & Design Group, Asset, Traffic Management & Highway Co-ordination.  We also provide excellent customer service to the public via Social Media, Web Chat, Email, Phone and Letter.  For the last 5 years we have been promoting a Community Self Help scheme, which supports local parish councils, enabling them to carry out small works for themselves by providing training, insurance and funds. Whatever happens on the highway generally comes through us, from closing roads for works, safety of trees, hedge cutting, licences to work or place items on the highway, Insurance claims, complaints as well as general administration tasks.  No two days are the same as there is such a variety of work.

You can read more about the work of the highways team by following this link. https://new.devon.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/
